May 19, 2006Sometimes change can be not so good...
I'm a proponent for change. Heck, I love change. But this change is not so great.
I'm talking about Buzznet here people. Granted, I did not see the gradual change and the added features. After not posting for like.. what 6 months? I decide to check it out. Whoa, this has really changed. What is this? I feel like I have ADD just looking at my page!! Between the music, videos, journals, photos...all on the same page... it's just way to cluttered. I would have been happy with just spell-check. Really. I'm not feeling the love here. Looking at my buzznet page is giving me a headache. Anyone have any suggestions for paring the options down? Many of my hits come from outside buzznet, so hitting tamn8or.buzznet.com will result in a menagerie of everything - instead of the featured photo. ...sigh...

September 1, 2005Power Voodoo Question for you
Ok. I know nothing about power. AC/DC to me is a kick-ass
rock band, and a "3-prong adapter" is a line that you say when Riff
Raff reveals his weapon in Rocky Horror picture show.
That being said, I have a question for you. We're getting ready to go down to the Folsom Street Fair as a vendor at the end of this month. For those of you unfamiliar with Folsom, leather and kink enthusiasts flock to San Francisco for the largest and most famous out-door event in the United States. Last year over 400,000 people passed by our booth in one day! Large sections of city blocks are blocked off to traffic, and the vendor booths are set-up in the middle of the streets. We need power. The plan is to run a laptop and a small printer (sorry I don't know what the wattage is yet, but I can find out) to scan in the credit card sales and print out receipts. I have a USB credit card reader already. So, only the laptop and printer will need power. Enough power to last all figgin' day long. I've done a wee bit 'o searching on the internet, and found these: VectorŽ 700W Power Inverter Aerotek 600W AC Power Inverter Can I get a car/golf cart battery, hook this thing up and use the laptop? Am I barking up the wrong tree here? I don't want to blow up the expensive laptop, nor do I want the thing to crap out when before the end of the event. Will this work?

July 11, 2005Feeling like a zombie
Let me back up....A couple of weeks ago, I saw
George Romero's "Land of the Dead" - I was hyped. This
was going to be another film in his on-going zombie movies of horror and
society spinning into chaos. Totally fun. Or I figured it was going
to be. I was disappointed. It felt like a platform for speaking
about the war. If I had known this was going to be a political statement,
then that's one thing. It just wasn't what I expected. It had quite
a lot of gore too. More than I thought was needed to propel the story.
Yah, you have to establish that zombies eat people. That's all
well and good. There was just so much in this movie, that it was almost
an excuse for not moving the story along.
So, I was a little skeptical when Monk wanted to see a new release, "Undead". Was this going to be another gore-featured political statement? *sigh* It was great! Better than great! I would definitely see it again. This movie rides that careful balance between scary/horror and comedy. Playful like Peter Jackson's "Dead Again" (with a lot less blood), but adds another twist to the zombie genre. The characters have great expressions, and I liked the grainy-type feel of the film. (I heard they filmed it all on digital. Sorry, that's the geek part coming out...) Most of the gore is implied: the camera turns away from the actual cutting the head off, or you see the swing and blood splattered on the wall - you don't actually see the slicing part. The editing is a little clunky in sections, but over-all was not too distracting. I was much more focused on trying to second-guess what was going to happen next. It's on a limited run - so catch it quick! http://www.undeadthemovie.com/
